Craig Wright likes to promote himself as the mysterious, legendary founder of Bitcoin. The real Satoshi has never been found or never stepped forward. Satoshi’s last communication with anyone was an email when stepped off the Bitcoin project. Hodlonaut, also known as Magnus Granath, was taken to court by Mr. Wright. It all stems from a Twitter feud where Mr. Granath goes by Hodlnaut as his handle. So, what is the bad blood all about?
Hodlonaut vs Craig Wright
The infamous Craig Wright took Hodlonaut to court to sue him over damages caused by his Tweets lamenting him as not the founder of Bitcoin. This case was taken up by a Norwegian court, the home country where Mr. Granath resides. Craig Wright used some “mean tweets” by Hodlonaut as a source of defamation against him. He believed that Hodlonaut was using false information or defaming him by calling him a fraud and illegitimate. Hodlonaut vs Wright was supposed to be only a 6-day trial but due to an Embargo, the public verdict was not released until today. It was originally going to be broadcasted on September 20th. Mr. Granath or Hodlonaut took to Twitter to announce the victory himself this morning.
Significance of the Case
To most people, this case most likely won’t reach their desktop or newsfeed. For the investor or Crypto enthusiast, this is an interesting outcome. It is the first time Mr. Wright lost when trying to prove he is “Satoshi” the founder of Bitcoin. Perhaps this story may be enough to force Craig Wright to not parade around as someone he is not. Also, Craig Wright owes Hodlonaut for all expenses and legal fees. He owes Hodlonaut a whopping $383,000 USD. Now that the case is done, will Craig Wright stop proclaiming he is Satoshi or will this ignite him to try even harder to prove himself? If anything is true about Craig Wright, he will not take the verdict lightly and will push back harder.
